We evaluated all the major fashion events, revisited the most noteworthy red carpet moments, took a poll on Twitter and Facebook, and now it’s finally time to reveal the results of our 2013 Best Dressed list.

Red Carpet Maven: Kerry Washington
We knew Scandal actress Kerry Washington had great style—she was our January Guest Editor, after all—but it wasn’t until she hit the red carpet for Django Unchained that we really saw her tastemaker potential. Washington turned heads in straight-off-the-runway designs and glamorous confections, landing her on our best-dressed lists for The Golden Globes, Oscars, and Emmys.
Best All Around Style: Lily Collins
Lily Collins stole the style spotlight this summer when she embarked on a global press tour to promote her latest film, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. The actress hit one sartorial high note after another in designs from Givenchy, Valentino, and Celine, mastering a series of of-the-moments looks—think: daring crop tops, cool cutouts, and slinky slip dresses—along the way.

Favorite Fresh Face: Lupita Nyong'o
It seemed as if 12 Years A Slave actress Lupita Nyong’o became fashion’s favorite up-and-comer overnight. Not surprising, considering right out of the gate the Kenyan beauty was wearing heavyweight designer brands, including Prada, Miu Miu, and Chanel. Here’s the good news: her next film, Non-Stop, hits theaters in February, which means we can expect more stellar fashion moments from Nyong’o in the New Year.

Dapper Newcomer: Michael B. Jordan
Get ready to see a lot of Michael B. Jordan in the near future. The handsome actor, who had critics buzzing earlier this year for his performance in Fruitvale Station, is hitting the big screen again in January with That Awkward Moment alongside Zac Efron and Miles Teller. Naturally, we’re excited to see more of his impeccably tailored suits on the red carpet.

Model Muse: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
It’s not just that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has exquisite taste in designers—Isabel Marant, Givenchy, and Balmain are among her wardrobe regulars—it’s that she has a way of creating seriously enviable ensembles, too. Whether she’s wearing a suit without a shirt, white in winter, or the new It boot, our November Guest Editor continues to inspire us daily.

Risk-Taker: Miley Cyrus
First she buzzed her hair, then she starting wearing hot pants, and then there was the VMA performance; it’s safe to say Miley Cyrus had one heck of a year, and one heck of a style transformation. Embracing a provocative new look, the singer left little to the imagination, shocking everyone with midriff baring tops, see-through dresses, and plenty of pantless moments.
We don’t know if it was Kanye’s influence or the pregnancy hormones, but Kim Kardashian is making some different fashion choices—and they’re noteworthy. Aside from the fact that her post-baby body is amazing and she’s running around Paris wearing big-name designers like Givenchy, Max Mara, and Proenza Schouler, the girl can rock an oversized coat better than anyone we know.

Most Stylish Couple: Beyonce and Jay Z
Beyonce and Jay Z are the ultimate power couple—in music and in fashion. The two nearly started an eco-friendly craze when they announced they were going vegan for 22 days, and then Beyonce went ahead and surprised everyone with 17 fashion-filled videos in one night. Whether they’re attending President Obama’s Inauguration or vacationing in Cuba, the two live a fabulous life filled with fabulous style moments.

Fashion's It Boy: Harry Styles
The obvious joke here is that his last name is Styles, but who are we kidding, the One Direction heartthrob does have dapper sensibilities. The recipient of this year’s British Style Award is like a young Mick Jagger with his reverse pompadour, tight dark jeans, and skinny scarves. It’s no wonder he makes all the girls swoon.

Reader Favorite: Diane Kruger and Olivia Palermo
We took to Twitter and Facebook to find out who you thought was the best-dressed celebrity of 2013, and it came down to a tie between Diane Kruger and Olivia Palermo. It makes sense: while Palermo was a front-row fixture at Fashion Week, Kruger wore a series of stunning outfits on the red carpet. Nice picks, guys!
