We hear what you're thinking, "WWWD are you telling me that changing my part will make me feel as current as chopping my long hair off or trying a totally different hair color?" and the answer is a resounding no-which isn't a bad thing! Playing with your part won't render you unrecognizable, but it can subtly tweak your look for the better, much like how smartly shaped eyebrows enhance a face.
The deep side part was a noticeable runway trend and we saw it worn in numerous ways. At Balenciaga, the look was a deep, simple side part, while Chanel displayed a more intense slicked-back style. We loved the dramatic swoop shown at Marni as well as the sleek and moderate side parts at Donna Karan and Calvin Klein. Starlets and style-setters are going for this look too. Sienna Miller chose to wear a slightly punky variation for the BAFTAs while Jessica Biel wore clean and classic version at the same event. While both of those ladies looked rather kempt, the messy, less precise, slightly surly take on the side part is another option. The above image of Ally Hilfiger is a good inspiration point for this downtown take on the deep part, as are images from the Jonathan Saunders Spring 08 show.
As far as the rest of your look goes, one au currant way to wear the deep side part is not with femme fatale frocks (the look is sexy, but expected), rather with slightly androgynous ensembles, as shown at YSL. The part, especially when worn with menswear-inspired clothes, has a very cool, slightly subversive 80's prepster vibe, which is always hot.
