This Collection Pays Tribute to the Original Royal Street Style Star

For the past couple weeks, there's hardly been a day when Kate Middleton hasn’t served up a sleek, ladylike look during her tour of Canada. But with a design collaboration that launched today, there’s another member of British royalty getting some much-deserved attention: the late Princess Diana.

During her short but memorable time in the spotlight, the princess left her sartorial mark—sometimes for raising eyebrows and sometimes for being for simply stunning. And the WAH London x ASOS collaboration reimagines some of Lady Di’s signature looks into a streetwear lineup that ranges from the cheeky (a chunk sweater that reads “Royal” on the front and “Loyal” on the back) to the iconic (an ode to the princess’s famous LBD-and-pearls ensemble).

As Dazed Digital reports, WAH London’s designer, Sharmadean Reid, says she’d studied Diana’s style, but the inspiration for the collection came a bit later. “I had just moved to West London, and I felt like a real West London mum, like ‘Ah, I feel a bit like Princess Diana, dropping the kids off to school,’ and I thought: that’s a good idea for a collection.”

Who’s to say if Princess Diana would be all about a current high-street version of a tuxedo dress or if she’d love pin culture as much as we do? But with this collaboration, that launched today, we’re allowed to imagine it’s so.
