I'm Once Again Obsessed With Anna Dello Russo's Most Insane Street Style Outfits

I once dressed like Anna Dello Russo for a week by following her specific outlook on style. It was peak ADR time when the world was her stage for peacocking and H&M had decided to launch a wacky range of accessories with the editor. Street style photography was on the up and she was the ultimate muse, changing her outfits with the wind—each one a riot of colour, glitz and Italian sass. She was the epicentre of a "look at me" hurricane which caused some industry figures to label the new circuit a circus and happily retreat back into shadowy black signature clothes.

Recently, Dello Russo decided to have a full fashion detox, ditching her old and elaborate garms in favour of a more minimalist approach. This year, she's left out a lot of her extravagant looks and stripped things back. However, at the more recent Copenhagen and Stockholm fashion weeks, I’ve noticed a return to mad styling and a reinvigorated love for the molto methods of ADR (bold colours, feathers, super-high heels, prints, outfit changes, ruffles, metallics and giant sunglasses). It was all very OTT, only made under by the laid-back way Scandi girls throw something structured or offbeat into a look (that rad party dress would look most “now” with sneakers, right?).

So whilst ADR hasn’t announced any plans to recoup her sold-off goods or to return to a life of maximalism, there are definitely signs of her returning to this previous fashion form. Just see the above Dolce & Gabbana moment from this week as a fabulous, fun example. Then there’s the fact that her documentary, Out of My Closet: The Life and Times of ADR, is set to release soon. Either way, let’s just take a moment (whilst the shows are on and the street style frenzy continues) to revisit her most memorable and out-there ensembles.

Dello Russo has been photographed in this fluffy coat many times, but our favourite look was with these red OTK boots. She looks like a very fabulous Mrs. Santa Claus.

Remember her cheery cherry headgear? We do. Here’s the fruity piece she wore with a Dolce & Gabbana look.

ADR was one of the first big names to support Italian designer Fausto Puglisi. She wore his gladiator-style dress on the regular.

Wow. This red swan headpiece was for a dinner hosted by Carine Roitfeld in Paris. Let’s hope no one was stuck behind her at the bar.

Matchy geometric prints (see the four pieces?) from Prada and a dolly fascinator for good measure? This is a classic ADR outfit.

From the short hemline to the mismatched everything, this is true Dello Russo.

Here’s ADR in a pink Oscar de la Renta gown accessorised with her H&M collection (luggage included). Do you remember it?

This was when Hedi Slimane’s Saint Laurent pieces were super sharp and only pulled off by the most dedicated, such as ADR.

It’s clear to see that ADR likes pairing reflective shades with anything and everything.
